What a culinary indulgence!

The dried Prune and cultivated Prunes are also called as Prunes (dried prunes, prunes, prune plums). The scientific name of Prune is "Prunus domestica". They belong to the genus Prunus and Rosaceae family. The genus Prunus also includes Mirabelle plums, Apricots, cherry plums and peaches. The cultivated Prune is native to Asia Minor. It has been verified that it has been cultivated in Greece more than 2500 years ago. Later they were brought to Italy in 150 BC by the Romans, from where it spread in the entire Europe. Since then, the cultivated plums have been crossed repeatedly which has given rise to almost so that over the centuries an almost unmanageable varietis and types of species.

The Prune is mostly a squarrose shrub or tree that can reach a height of up to 6 (rarely up to 10) meters. The flowers usually grow in clusters and are predominantly colored white. Our Prunes are 3 to 6 cm in size, round to oval shaped fruits and range from purple to dark red. The flesh of fruit is soft, very juicy and have a yellow to orange-reddish color. The round kernel or Prune is almost about 1 cm in diameter.

Our Prunes are obtained from certified organic farms of Europe. Breeding, cultivation and harvesting is done under certified organic conditions. The Prunes are manually plucked when ripe, washed, pitted and then gently dried. The drying is also known as Dessication in Food Technology. Here Dessication stands for a form of food preservation, in which the water is removed from the foodstuff under normal temperatures of air and without additional application of heat. The foodstuff can be preserved for longer period by reduction of water content to approximately 20%. Like in case of plums, the taste either remains unchanged or is intensified by Dessication.

Our high quality organic Prunes do not contain any additives like preservatives or dyes and are guranteed non-sulphurized. In order to avoid any possible loss of quality due to infestation, we disinfest (disinfestation) all our organic Prunes.
In order to guarantee that they are 100% free from pesticides, we get all our Prunes inspected by an independent accredited Austrian laboratory in batches.

We offer you only the best Prunes. In order to ensure this, our organic Prunes are handpicked and subject to laser cleaning several times by the company AFS (All food services) in Austria by means of most modern equipments. The Laser cleaning system ensures that only the best and purest products are brought in the market. All unsatisfactorily dried Prunes and those that still contain debris or kernels are removed. Even the existing residuals like small stones, leaves, stems, soil, wood and other debris are removed from the selected goods by laser cleaning. Note : We can clean and remove undesirable parts for your products such as walnuts, Cherries, Apricots or other fruits with seeds by our laser cleaning system as per your specifications and requirements

Our organic Prunes have a very aromatic and juicy flesh. We recommended it as a vegetarian snack for munching in between meals or as an ingredient in homemade cereals, yoghurt, cakes, fruit bread or dryfruit cakes as well as in various pickles. There are also a number of recepies with Prunes such as Prunes in poultry or venison, with bacon, in salads soups, sauces and chutneys. In each case it provides a sweet culinary treat.

Our 100 g of dried Prunes not only contain a plenty of flavors but also fulfill 38% of Vitamin A, 22% of Vitamin C, 17% of Iron, 35% of Vitamin E, 71% of Vitamin C, 18% of Magnesium and 60 % of our daily requirement of Potassium. And if this is not enough, the Prunes contain a very high antioxidant capacity of 8059 µmol TE (ORAC Value). But beware, consumption of Prunes in large quantity has a mild laxative effect.
