The original native country of Apricot lies in Central Asia, the region which is today known as Uzbekistan and not from Armenia, as suggested by its taxonomical name (Prunus armeniaca). It arrived in Armenia for the first time in First Century BC after 3000 years of crossing the Central Asia. It was in 70 BC that the Romans finally brought them to the entire Europe via Anatolia. The apricot tree is extremely resilient, and can easily withstand sandy soil, heat and dryness. It isn’t without reason that the word “apricot” comes from the Latin word apricus = sunny. Our organic apricots originate from the pristine mountain slopes, from the Pamir plateau of Uzbekistan, an area which has never come in contact with pesticides or biocides. Our organic apricots are a 100% natural product. Likewise the black Bukhara raisins are also obtained from our own production, from our certified organic farms of Uzbekistan. It is one of largest and most tastiest variety of raisins, that were once reserved for the Emir of Bukhara. Like then, it is still a rarity. The black Bukhara raisins have been forgotten since long. We have rediscovered and cultivated it in an intact and unspoilt nature.In Uzbekistan, the apricots and raisins are manually harvested. Then the kernels are removed from the apricots. Both, the apricots and the raisins are slowly and gently dried in the sun, by our own solar dryers (sun drying). Then they are handpicked and only the best fruits are further processed. Finally, now the apricots are stuffed with black Bukhara raisins.The production is expensive, especially since everything is done manually, but the result is also much impresssive! The sweet and sour, fruity dried apricot is combined with the fruity sweetness of the Black Bukhara Raisins. An incredible experience for the palateIn Uzbekistan, they are taken care by gentle labor and the cultivation, harvesting as well as drying (solar drying) is undertaken by our subsidiary Silk Road Organic (organic) Foods. Uzbekistan lies in Central Asia, along the famous Silk Road.
