Ingredients: dried wild apricots*, dried apricot kernels*
* produced from certified organic cultivationCombines all good things – kernel and fruit! The original native country of Apricot lies in Central Asia, the region which is today known as Uzbekistan and not from Armenia, as suggested by its taxonomical name (Prunus armeniaca). It arrived in Armenia for the first time in First Century BC after 3000 years of crossing the Central Asia. It was in 70 BC that the Romans finally brought them to the entire Europe via Anatolia. The apricot tree is extremely resilient, and can easily withstand sandy soil, heat and dryness. It isn’t without reason that the word “apricot” comes from the Latin word apricus = sunny. Our organic apricots originate from the pristine mountain slopes, from the Pamir plateau of Uzbekistan, an area which has never come in contact with pesticides or biocides. There they are manually harvested and the kernels are separated from the flesh and both are separately dried slowly and gently in the sun on our own solar dryers (solar drying). Both, the apricots and the kernels are slowly and gently dried in the sun, by our own solar dryers (sun drying). The dried kernels are then cracked in order to obtain the real apricot kernels. The so called almonds are separated (stripped) from its thin skin layer and whatever remains is an absolutely untreated apricot kernel in raw vegetable quality. Generally, the apricot kernels are closely related to the almonds. Finally, the dried apricots are stuffed with dried apricot kernels. The production is expensive, especially since everything is done manually, but the result is also much impresssive! The sweet and sour, fruity dried apricot is combined with the almond like apricot kernels. An incredible experience for the palate. The slightly bitter taste of the apricot kernels reveals that our apricots are actually wild apricots. In Uzbekistan, they are taken care by gentle labor and the cultivation, harvesting as well as drying (solar drying) is undertaken by our subsidiary Silk Road Organic (organic) Foods. Uzbekistan lies in Central Asia, along the famous Silk Road. Silk Road Organic (organic) Food has its main processing site near Samarkand and specializes in the production of organic (eco) dried fruits and organic nuts. The production is yielded by environmental friendly solar dryers that do not damage the product.
